I love grain sacks and grain sack fabric; it an obsession really! It can be kind of pricey and hard to come by. Since I haven't been able to find just the right color and design in the size I need, I decided to try and make one. I purchased a drop cloth from Lowe's and washed and dried it to make it super soft. I cut it to the desired size (I don't sew so the edges are not hemmed but I like the rustic feel of the unfinished edges). Using a grain sack stencil, I stenciled the stripes right on the drop cloth using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Duck Egg.
After a few days of use, I decided to use Stitch Witchery to avoid all of the fraying and stringy edges. This was my first time to try Stitch Witchery; it was simple and easy to use.
Happy Decorating!
