If you've been reading my blog you know I love grain sacks and grain sack fabric. I have an ottoman (one of my favorite pieces of furniture) that needs to be recovered. Since the faux grain sack table runner turned out ok, I decided to try a similar approach with the ottoman. Using a piece of a drop cloth I already had on hand (washed and dried it first), I stenciled the design using a stencil brush and Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. I used two different stencils and layered them over each other to achieve a look similar to the one in the photo above.
It is difficult to see in the photos but I stenciled so that the paint didn't cover entirely to make it look more authentic. In retrospect, I wish I had stenciled the paint event lighter to achieve a more faded, worn look but all things considered, I love the way it turned out!
Happy Decorating...!
